Girls Hockey is the 3rd fastest growing team sport in the United States and the Chiefs Hockey Club is proud to offer a dedicated Girls Hockey Program for our female athletes. We fielded our first all-girls team in 2018-19 and they competed in the U10 girls NIHL-gold division finishing 19-12-4 overall, with a 3rd place finish during the NIHL regular season and then playing in the championship game of the NIHL Playoffs. Our inaugural team competed in 4 tournaments and played in the championship game of all 4.
Moving into 2019-20, the Chiefs have expanded our Girls Program to 2 teams with the continuation of our U10 team and the addition of a team at the U12 level. Both teams will compete in NIHL for the 2019-20 season. The Club is planning further expansion in future seasons to keep up with the local girls hockey demands.
2019-20 SEASON DETAILS:
Evaluations and Tryouts for our 2019-20 teams were completed on August 19th. After tryouts, teams were formed with the anticipation of an early-September start to the 2019-20 season, however, the club does still have a couple of openings at both the U10 and U12 level. Please inquire ASAP should you have an interest in learning about how your daughter can still earn a spot on one of our teams.
Here are some details about the Chiefs Girls Hockey Program:
Ask our families - Chiefs Girls Hockey players love coming to the rink and they love to skate and compete. We create a positive and motivating environment for our players where they compete at a high level while learning the game of hockey and playing with teammates that become life-long friends.
Cost for U10 is $2,035 and U12 is $2,310. For the same/more development and ice time, these fees are significantly lower than most other NIHL girls programs.
Girls Team Coaches at both the U10 and U12 levels have extensive hockey experience. Several played AAA hockey, junior hockey, and/or college hockey and they are all are USA Hockey Certified. The coaching staff is supported by current York High School Head Coach Bruce Turpin and former Mission and Princeton hockey star Fiona McKenna.
Girls teams are guaranteed 40+ practices, additional skills clinics/power-skates, 18-22 NIHL league games, NIHL playoffs, State Tournament, and 2 additional tournaments including at least 1 out-of-town tournament
